The R.Y.D.C. ballet classes are based on the R.A.D. syllabus, which is a worldwide recognized organization. Ballet is the foundation of artistic dance and is essential for modern and contemporary styles. Classes offer strong technical training, coordination, interpretation of music, and graceful, elegant movement.
Our high energy classes are designed to give dancers control, increased flexibility, and musicality while having fun. Correct technique is stressed while enjoying the jazz class. With up-to-date music, jazz is a popular dance style for all ages.
Street-style dance moves are taught and developed. With combinations of the different hip hop moves. A creative dance style with no limits in variety.
Both the modern and contemporary styles have a strong classical base. These styles focus on the principles of centering, alignment, gravity, breath contraction, release and fall, recovery, tension and relaxation, opposition, and emotion. A beautiful style of dance is now becoming very popular as an extension of classical classes.
The centre teaches the L.G.T.D.A. (Les Griffiths Tap Dance Academy) Syllabus with gradual progression throughout the grades offering enough challenge with each new level for the student to achieve new skills. Tap is wonderful for the coordination of body and mind and increases awareness of musicality, rhythm, and timing.
Classes introduce a variety of dance styles from well-known musicals incorporating the opportunity to act, mime, and sing. Students are usually selected for these specialized groups as they are generally for Eisteddfod and performance students, and they must have a classical ballet base.
Classes focus purely on acrobatic movements, learning to flip, cartwheel, and achieve moves correctly and safely. Acro movements can be incorporated into dance routines.
The R.Y.D.C. Kidz programme is especially for the five-year-old Kindergarten age group where a little more structure is introduced to the dance room. Children learn to fine-tune their movements and strengthen coordination while still having fun, and it is the ideal stepping stone before commencing Ballet and Tap exams from the age of six.
The classes available for this age group are the R.Y.D.C. Kidz Kindy Jazz and Kindy Tap, as well as the Pre Primary Ballet for five-year-olds, which is an excellent preparatory program for the R.A.D. Primary Grade exam. Learning to dance with a partner and work with basic beginner steps is a perfect class for this age group.
The Robyn Yvette Dance Centre has created an exceptional programme for pre-schoolers ranging from two and a half years to 3 years ("Twinkle Tots") to the three and a half to four-year-olds ("Twinkle Toes")
These classes are a must for the eager little ballerinas and dancers who want to move and have fun. Beautiful stories are interwoven into the fun movements and basic steps to stimulate and help coordination skills for little ones with energy to burn. As well as movements, musical instruments and hand props such as wands and scarves are introduced to make the whole dance experience lots of fun. A beautiful starting point for your little dance, mover, and groover.
