OUR HISTORY

Since its inception in 1980, the R.Y.D.C. has gained a wonderful unrivalled reputation in the Port Stephens and surrounding areas. With outstanding Ballet & Tap examination results and wonderful Eisteddfod results. Read more below.

RYDC CLASSES

The R.Y.D.C. has classes for Classical Ballet (R.A.D. Syllabus), Tap (L.G.T.D.A. Syllabus), Modern Expressive and Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Pre-School Twinkle Tots and Twinkle Toes programme, Hip Hop, and recently have added Acro classes.

PROFESSIONAL CAREERS

Former students have been accepted into full-time dance courses, professional and entertainment industry careers, including Sesame Street Live, Happy Feet, Sydney Dance Company, and more.

CARING & SAFE

The centre has a wonderful reputation for a safe and fun environment helping children aged two and a half upwards. With supportive teachers, students and parents, it's an ideal and safe environment to discover new talents.

HIGHLY AWARDED

RYDC has won numerous Eisteddfod awards across all genres in both group and solo. Student awards include runner-up in R.A.D. Isobel Anderson Awards and finalist in 2021 Monica Halliday Awards.

MORE THAN 41 YEARS OF DANCE EXCELLENCE

The Robyn Yvette Dance Centre was first established in 1980 at a small hall in Nelson Bay. We first offered classes for jazz and tap and then added classical ballet to our genre of classes. As our dance centre grew in popularity, we moved our studio to bigger premises at Salamander Bay, where we were based for 14 years. As we continued growing, we built a beautiful studio in Taylors Beach in 2017 to accommodate all our dancers. Today, the Robyn Yvette Dance Centre offers classes for:

We offer a wide range of dance styles for children (aged two and a half) to adults. The Robyn Yvette Dance Centre has classes for everyone, including a new fabulous fun-filled Jazz class for Adults.

FORMER STUDENTS OF ROBYN YVETTE DANCE CENTRE

Former students trained at R.Y.D.C. have been accepted in full-time dance courses. They have also gone into professional careers in dance companies, including Sydney Dance Company and the entertainment industry. Our former students have gone on to perform in television shows and movies, including "Hi Five," "Sesame Street Live," Dein Perry's "Steel City," "Bootman" the film, "Happy Feet" and more.

AWARD-WINNING DANCE CENTRE

Having gained a wonderful and unrivalled reputation through our classes and dedicated teachers, we've achieved wonderful Eisteddfod results and outstanding Ballet and Tap examination results. We offer opportunities for children to perform in Eisteddfod and Performance groups, ballet and tap examinations, and hold workshops with visiting guest teachers. The studio has consistently received outstanding results in the R.A.D. Ballet examinations and the L.G.T.D.A. Tap exams.

The R.Y.D.C. has won numerous Eisteddfod awards in all genres in both group and Solo sections and won choreographic and costume awards. Students have also been presented with the best and fairest awards at various Eisteddfods for their excellent sportsmanship.

Most recent awards include student Josie Byrnes, who was the Runner-up in the 2018 R.A.D. prestigious Isobel Anderson Awards for the Intermediate Foundation level and in 2021 student Chloe Maclean was a Finalist in the Monica Halliday Awards.
